About Mckay Tebbs Southern Utah Guitar Teacher/Instructor Serving St. George, Washington County, Hurricane, Cedar City Professional Guitarist

Mckay Tebbs graduated with a Bachelor's of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in May 2006.

He has studied with noteworthy musicians such as Jon Finn (guitarst for the Boston Pops Orchestra), Kevin Barry (guitarist for Paula Cole and Mary Chapin Carpenter), and Livingston Taylor (brother of James Taylor).

Some of the styles he studied at Berklee include: Rock, Blues, Country, and Brazilian. He also plays the bass guitar and has a good understanding of harmony and music theory.

Mckay was a 2nd and 3rd place winner in the "Southern Utah Songwriting Competition" of 2005 (see tsbrecord.com), and was on the Dean's List every semester of his attendance at Berklee. He was also chosen as a winner of the Jessica Elizabeth Luttrel Scholarship in 2003.

What Makes Mckay Different From Other Guitarists?

Mckay is a guitarist who is always prepared. Whether its strumming through a chord progression in a studio or writing a song at short notice, he is always prepared to provide quality assistance and meet any dead lines. He will not agree to work on a project if he is not able to perform his best.

Having studied at Berklee, Mckay has gained a deep understanding of music, as well as exceptional skill on the guitar. He has spent a countless number of hours practicing his instrument and training his ears. He reads music at a proficient level, and is able to improvise over chord changes. He can play music ranging from very technical to songs that are soft , slow, and romantic. Mckay is open-minded to different approaches and willing to learn.

Teaching

Mckay first began teaching guitar when he was in high school. People who saw him play often approached him afterwards for lessons. He would teach kids as young as five years old, and adults as old as 70. He loved teaching and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with other people. He opened up his own teaching studio in his hometown and began to teach many people in his community.

Mckay can offer beginning and intermediate students a patient and friendly atmosphere where they can learn the guitar at their own pace. Performing

Mckay began performing at a very young age, and has continued until the present. He loves playing in front of people and connecting with audiences. He is available to perform as a sideman for bands, singers, performers, or any other musical situation. His main goal in performing with other people is to make them sound good.
